Beckhoff CX8090 Faulty Batteries

All TAIT equipment using the Beckhoff CX8090 including but not limited to the NavHoist and certain variants of control points.

Issue

Beckhoff informed TAIT that batteries installed in the CX8090 prior to July 2015 may leak and
cause damage to the internal PCB. In addition, users should replace batteries every three years.

Identifying a CX8090 or battery with an issue

Each CX8090 label shows the manufacture date. Any CX8090 manufactured before July 2015 should have the battery removed and inspected for leakage.

If the battery appears to have leaked, the CX8090 should be replaced. Contact TAIT at asktait@taittowers.com for assistance. Even if the battery shows no signs of damage, replace the battery with the newer model as shown below.

All batteries, even of the newer type, should be replaced every three years.
