Layering objects in GUI Panels - Adding "Panel Tree" Feature
This suggestions refers to being able to work using layers by means of the "Panel Tree".
The current feature in QPanels makes management of grouped UI Objects simple and fast.
When creating complex UI elements using a combination of UI Objects in GUI Panels, achieving the same workflow requires a bit more attention to detail and focus to avoid affecting spacing and grouping.
If the Panel Tree "layering" was available in GUI Panels it would expedite the creation of complex custom user interfaces.
Advantages:
- Increasing the end user situational awareness regarding what objects are on top of each other by providing visual feedback on the tree using "parent-child" links (dog-leg lines)
- Simplifying the arrangement mechanics of moving assembled elements around by allowing the end user to "drag the parent" hence bringing all the children with it.
- Show / Hide function is amazing to quickly de-clutter a complex panel
- Ability to quickly select a parent to copy-paste an entire element with it's children between panels.
I could go on. I am a huge fan.
