I would like to suggest that we look into adding a similar feature to what an end user can do with our cueing engine.
I believe that it would speed up GUI Panel programming if an end user could drag items from external windows such as the "Registered Devices Window" into a panel editor window.
A similar feature set exists for programming cues and this is something that I often use.
I imagine the following happening:
After dragging a device into the panel editor window, a list would populate asking the user to select the type of UI Object that would be created as well as the associated signal to be shown in the panel.
For example, after dragging an axis, the user would select a "label" object, followed by position. This would allow the panel editor to create a label that will display the analog input signal for the axis, displaying axis position in the panel.
In the case of an IO Device, the user would select "Hot Spot Track bar", followed by selecting an Analog Output register. This would allow the panel editor to create a slider that the end user can interact with by means of the panel.
